Double Denim

Is it just me or is everyone else suffering from Fashion Week fatigue? While I love the to-the-minute update from those attending shows, I admit I much preferred life before Instagram. For someone rather time-poor during the day, having to incessantly scroll through the same blurry pictures taken from the same obscure angle is driving this social-media-embracer a little nuts. And don't get me started on the videos. Perhaps I should just unfollow the culprits and re-follow once the week is over?

I complain but I love it. On Sunday, I made my usual pilgrimage to the Lincoln Center fountain for a bout of people-watching. The warm weather brought out the crowds and boy were there some stunning outfits - my favourite was a lady wearing this dress who was making a mad dash through the plaza on her way to, you guessed it, DVF; and a gamine Audrey Hepburn-lookalike in a simple soft-pink mini shiftdress with sleeves that ended with a dramatic trumpet-like cuff. Oh and plenty of ladies got the Clover Canyon memo.

Naturally there were also the peacocks - strutting around in getups they wouldn't throw on otherwise - posing in such a way, someone had to take their photo. On that note, there were so many cameras that I think everyone with a DSLR was there to act out their street-style photographer extraordinaire fantasies. Like begets like I suppose.

Regardless, all is well in the world where there is Bill.

Anyway, the following outfit did not make an appearance at Lincoln Center but was taken a couple of weeks ago when I went to watch the annual India Day parade. Like last year, "Gandhi" made an appearance, and there were a new round of movie star VIPs - Vidya Balan, Sarathkumar and Raadhika, if you care about such things. I most definitely squealed when I spotted the latter two, yes I did.

P.s. if you had to know, I wore this dress to Lincoln Center - it was the easiest outfit to put on after a gruelling hour at Soul Cycle.

ABC Cocina In Spades

Yesterday's date night saw us at ABC Cocina. Early reports suggest this is the latest hot spot in Manhattan, resulting in the annoying problem of tables being booked out at least a month in advance, I did however manage to wrangle a prime time reservation for Friday by calling the day before enquiring about cancelled tables. A trick we've used many times before with great success.

Just like its neighbour and sister restaurant, ABC Kitchen, Cocina is decked out in very pretty lighting and high-end hipster decor from ABC Carpet and Home (the place to go if you are ever in the market for $600 crockery and $1000 reclaimed metal chairs).

I digress. Everything about this Spanish/Latin restaurant was fabulous. The gin coconut cocktail as well as guacamole with peas and sunflower seeds were a great start to our meal (I'm definitely using these additions next time I make guac at home).

Winter Wonderland

This weekend, New York experienced its first decent snowfall of the season.

I woke up on Saturday morning and knew Central Park was where I wanted to be.. and apparently all of New York had the same idea too!
While the Park is beautiful on a regular day, the snow turned it into a spectacular winter wonderland.
The Park was crowded! But it felt like there was so much happiness in one spot - everywhere you turned there were shrieks of laughter and exclamations of joy over how pretty the snow made everything look.

Snow makes the winter so much more bearable, don't you think?

Tutty Fruity and GoT

What an insane month June has been. The dance showcase is on this weekend and rehearsals have hit fever pitch.

Since every near-daily practice has been mentally and physically exhausting, I have had zero energy to do much else. Thank goodness I blog for fun!

Here's what I wore a few weekends back. Although these were taken at my favourite spot near Union Square, my brains are too fried to remember where I was going or what I was doing:
Zara dress, Kate Spade belt (sim here), BR ring
Of course I had NO idea these ASOS earrings were HUMUNGOUS until seeing this photo (sim here)
Whilst my social life has taken a backseat this month, veging out on the couch has its merits - I finally got around to the Game of Thrones - HOW IT TOOK ME SO LONG ASTOUNDS ME!

I read before I watch (this goes for anything) so I was patient enough to finish off book one before viewing the first season on HBO. Unfortunately patience is a limited virtue. I am already done with season two of this AMAZING show even though I have yet to reach the halfway mark of the corresponding book.

George R.R. Martin is a wonderful story-teller and with five books in the series and counting, I am secretly thrilled that I have a considerable amount of reading ahead of me.

Having said that, my favourite character is Tyrion Lannister only because of Peter Dinklage and the witty script. This is probably the only time I will concede a character being better portrayed on screen than in print.

With a serious soft-spot for whimsical prints and an even major love for the city I now call home, I couldn't help pull the trigger on the latest version of the Lillith Skirt:

Now all I need to do is get some sleep tonight - happy shopping!

M Wells (and my new favourite skirt)

Darling S and I headed out to M Wells Diner a couple of days ago. M Wells has been on my restaurant-to-go list some months back but it rushed to the top when I found out that the restaurant was not going to renew its lease at the end of the month.

For all the hype the diner has been receiving, I wish there were more normal dishes on the menu. As adventurous we are with our food, we did not like the sound of sweetbreads or blood sausage. I even thought a dish with duck nuts was code for something else. Nope, I was mistaken. We did have an amazing salad and tomato tart. The banana cream pie was brilliant as well and we (almost) regret not ordering the Paris-Brest, that received the M Wells treatment by looking just as it sounds (with a cherry on top).

Anthropologie A-bit-unruly top and sandals, J Crew sash skirt and necklace, Ray-Ban Wayfarers, Kate Spade Tarrytown Quinn,

Meet my new love!
