Ferragamo L'Icona

Patience is not my biggest virtue. So it should surprise you (and me) that I waited over 2 months to receive shoes I ordered for my birthday.

I was a woman on a mission as soon as I found out in May, about customisable Ferragamo Varas. In the age of sexy Louboutins, Ferragamos may be considered a little old-fashioned and conservative for some, but they are fantastic for work (alas never seen on the blog since they live permanently in the office). I rarely buy designer shoes at full price but being able to put my own spin to a pair of classics - from the bow and heel colour to the choice of hardware - was a good enough reason to break that streak. But who am I kidding, it's more likely because I tend to lose all sense of self-control when it comes to birthday shopping.

Therefore, I seek forgiveness twofold: firstly, because I am still talking about the day I turned a year older. But most importantly because this post is nothing more than a showing off of these new lovelies:

Miu Mius for you?

I found these beautiful Miu Mius on sale from Nordstrom recently but alas they do not fit correctly. Apart from fit, they are perfect - nice heel height, platform-assisted comfort and for someone who suffers from pronation, a solid and sturdy heel.

Before I return them, I am offering these up for sale at cost - because in all likelihood these will disappear in the depths of some warehouse to be lost forever.

1. Miu Miu Flare Heel Sandals - size 39 (fits like US8) - $319 (includes s/h to the US) -originally retailed for $675
  • Approx. heel height: 4 3/4" with a 1" platform (comparable to a 3 3/4" heel).
  • Patent leather upper/leather lining and sole.
  • Made in Italy.

2. Miu Miu Flare Heel Pumps- sizes 38 and 38.5 (fits like US7.5) - $309 (includes s/h to the US) -originally retailed for $645
  • Approx. heel height: 4 3/4" with a 1 1/2" platform (comparable to a 3 1/4" heel).
  • Patent leather upper/leather lining and sole.
  • Made in Italy.

Payment by Paypal only. Shipping to other countries possible but s/h will be extra. Email if you are interested. I will return these by post to Nordstrom on Friday, 20 July 2012 if there are no takers.

Otherwise, have a lovely weekend ahead. If shopping is on the cards, here are other Miu Mius currently on sale elsewhere:

God Save My Shoes

{Scheduled post since we are sunning it up in St. Lucia!}

I used to be a shoe-girl. When I lived in Sydney, I had nearly 80 pairs of shoes - in every colour under the sun. in heels of different heights, for every occasion one could think of.

In preparation for my move state-side and in anticipation of the lack of storage, I culled all but a handful. That would have been a devastating time if not for the excitement of moving to New York.

It's been nearly two years since the move and the scarcity of space has since reduced my attachment to most material things. I still love to shop, don't get me wrong, but purchases are thought over for so much longer. Impulse purchases usually result in returns as soon as I've come to my senses. Impulse shoe-shopping though? Can't remember the last time that happened. It just isn't feasible. Since shoes take up more room, I have built a solid but tiny collection of shoes instead, preferring classics to trends, quality over quantity.  Even so, I still have no choice but to put some away in kitchen cabinets (such a New York cliche).

Therefore this new flick on the obsession of shoes has me intrigued:

When does one decide that they have enough shoes? Does it stop at 10? 80? 800??

My view is that if you have the means then do as you wish.  Judge not, lest ye be judged. There are far worst things to criticise others on than the amount of footwear they own.

To be honest, just because I manifest less of the trait these days, I don't think I ever stopped being a shoe-girl. I'm just waiting to move into a larger apartment!

So tell me, are you into shoes too? Care to divulge how many pairs you own?
