Anchors Aweigh
In honour of a close friend's birthday, we chartered a vintage Hinckley two weekends ago for lovely a sail on a warm summer's day. Having had the luxury of sailing on the Sydney Harbour many times, I am slightly embarrassed to admit that while I've been in the city for three summers, this was my first time out on a boat on the Hudson. (And no, the Frying Pan does not count!).

The Scent of Summer
For the last Friday of May, S and I had date night at another Jean George stalwart - ABC Kitchen. I reckon this place serves one of the best brunches in the city and I had been meaning to take S to dinner there for a long time. We strolled down there on that warm spring evening for a late meal.
We started off with a plate of fresh ricotta with strawberry compote. While this is an appetizer, the inherent sweetness meant it could certainly pass for dessert. I am never one to say no to starting my meal with dessert - as long as we end with it too. Since we over-ordered, it took a bit of restraint to not finish off everything on the plate so we could doggy-bag a little with us. While not necessarily "fresh", I can attest to it's deliciousness even a couple days on.

Lilly Pulitzer Endless Summer Sale!
Lilly Pulitzer's sale is here once again!
A trademark of preppiness (all that PINK and GREEN!), I have found Lilly to be a trove of chic dresses for work and play. The above-par quality and generous sale prices make this sale really difficult to sit out.
Checkout immediately if you see something you like as there is free shipping on all orders. Having said that, non final-sale items can only be returned for exchanges and online merchandise credit so shop wisely!
My picks (limited as there is very heavy traffic on the website):

Fun in the Windy City
Darling S and I flew to Chicago for Labor Day weekend.
Just like most trips we take, this one was filled with great food and drink. But being first-time visitors, we dutifully spent time at various tourist spots - Millenium Park including taking silly pictures at The Bean, walking the stretch that is the Magnificient Mile and hanging out with thousands(!) of others at Navy Pier.
My favourite bits: the sunset walk along the lake shore, cocktails at the Aviary (this one deserves its own post) and the architecture cruise along the Chicago river.
Day 1 outfit:
LillY Pulitzer blossom dress, Anthropologie sandals, J Crew necklace, Hermes Clic bracelet, Michael Kors watch, Marni sunnies
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this dress
Here's what I wore, i.e. day 2 outfit:
Lilly Pulitzer Lela Shift Dress, tweed navy jacket from Seoul, J Crew necklace, Marni sunglasses and Anthropologie sandals
Day 3 outfit:
Holding on for dear life: Anthropologie D'armee dress, sandals, necklace and Desert Spring scarf, tweed jacket from Seoul
The thrill of standing on the glass ledge of the Willis Tower (I haven't been here that long and even I prefer to refer to it as the Sears Tower) looking down 103 floors was worth the admission many many many times over.
(As you can see from my outfits, I am the champion of packing light - just allows for shopping space, no?)
Hope y'all had a lovely weekend too!
(Edit: Here is a list of must-eats in Chicago:
(Edit: Here is a list of must-eats in Chicago:
- Deep-dish pizza: Giordano's - so nice we had it twice!
- The Publican: meat-heavy. This was our choice for Sunday brunch.
- The Girl and the Goat: my favourite restaurant of the trip. Make reservations well in advance as Stephanie Izard packs a full house.
- Green Zebra: vegetarian fine dining. Nothing on the menu was a miss.
- Cafe Spiaggia: less formal than the dining room but still exquisite with a view of the Mile and John Hancock Tower.
- The Aviary: PHENOMENAL cocktails. If you only go to to one place in Chicago, this is it. Whilst not the most comfortable since you have to stand, the best tables in the house are right by the mixologists. )

Oh Jacqueline
I met dear Kate last night at Kinshop for our regular catch-up dinner.
The weather was balmy so I decided to walk up an appetite.
In my post juice-cleanse haze (verdict: never again), I forgot to bring my camera but I couldn't help take some iphone shots of what I saw on my trek:

I always dress up for Kate. The yellow Lilly Pulitzer was an easy choice, especially since the forecast was for showers and lots of cloud.
Lilly Pulitzer Jacqueline Novelty Lace, that same pair of Anthropologie flats, Michael Kors watch, Hermes Clic bracelet
Hope everyone in the northeastern corridor stays safe for Hurricane Irene!

Saturday at the Whitney
On Saturday, darling S and I took a trip to the Upper East Side to pay a visit to The Whitney.
The Whitney sets itself apart from the many other museums in the city, not only for its unique architecture, but also for its emphasis on 20th and 21st century American Art, the majority being part of Gertrude Vandebilt Whitney's personal collection.
Ms Whitney was an artist herself and my favourite piece of hers at the museum was a self-sculpture, "Chinoise":

What I wore:
Anthropologie Strappy Dandelion Dress, J Crew aqua necklace and skinny patent belt, Kenneth Cole tan wedges, Rebecca Minkoff Morning After Clutch (here in black)
Since we were in the neighbourhod, I had to pop into Lilly Pulitzer and was thrilled to find the Blossom dress on sale (although still at full-price online).

We ended our little excursion at Via Quadronno. I am still thinking about the mozzarella tomato panini and latte we gobbled down.

OOTD: Shifty shifty
I think shift dresses are G-d's gift to corporate women. The flattering cut and vibrant print of this dress guaranteed its number 1 spot in my wardrobe - needing only a simple skinny belt and minimal accessories to complete the outfit.
As if Mondays are not painful enough, this combo came in especially handy this morning having woken up with a blinder of a headache and the loss of my ability to dress myself - don't let the smile throw you.
Dress: Anthropologie Pom Flower Shift
White belt: K Karl Lagerfeld from The Outnet
Shoes: Prada patent wedges
Sunglasses: Marni
Despite its not-so-pleasant name and the gazillion other shifts in my tiny wardrobe, this pretty little thing is next on my wish list:
What is your go-to outfit on a day like mine?
